Brave New Worlds: Explorations of Space

Using tactile textures, vivid colors, soundscapes, and dreamy compositions, this exhibition features projects by Kelly Akashi, Gisela Colon, Victoria Fu, Karen Lofgren, and Adee Roberson. Each weaves a distinctive constellation of sculptural and pictorial forms to explore spiritual practice, light and space, and a contemporary perspective on embodied experience.

Brave New Worlds invites you to enter the creative universes of five contemporary artists through immersive installations. Motivated by the artistic legacies of Southern California as a place of experimentation and a space for self-fulfillment, these artists use their own visual, sonic, and sensual aesthetic languages to construct worlds that both challenge creative convention and ignite our senses.

This exhibition took place at Palm Springs Art Museum, Palm Springs, California in 2019. A catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
